THE CAFE

THE CAFE

The Cafe is one of two outlets at the luxurious The Mulia, Mulia Resort & Villas serving a gourmet feast every weekend, presenting a chic dining experience that’s every bit as elegant as its sister restaurant, Soleil, yet altogether unique.

Keeping with the grandiose theme seen throughout the six-star resort, The Cafe distinguishes itself by virtue of its variation. The international buffet concept, available every Saturday and Sunday brunch-time, sees a variety of food from around the globe displayed at different stations within the open-style layout, each with its own uniquely designed corner of the dining room.

Chinese and Korean are first on the list, with a backdrop of Asian-inspired artwork to set the tone. Among the succulent pork selections and whole crispy ducks, deep-fried prawns stand out as a delicious dish, closely followed by the Korean-style kalbi short ribs, perfectly marinated to be both tangy and smokey, just as they should be.

At the Indonesian station, a palette of glass and gold frames delicacies from throughout the archipelago. An array of traditional dishes is laid out for both dining and viewing pleasure, like the ayam pedas (spicy chicken), sate sapi (beef skewers) and succulent fish fillets slow-cooked in bright green palm leaves. The crispy Padang-style beef is testament to the complex flavours of Indonesia’s best recipes, whilst the spectrum of hot sambals (chili sauces) is not only perfectly authentic but features some of the best variations we’ve tried.

Finishing up at the far side of The Cafe is the Japanese cuisine and the dessert room. At the Japanese stop, old-style miso soup, just-rolled sushi, sashimi, ceviche and fresh oysters paint a colourful vista, whilst the dessert room satisfies everyone’s inner-child with countless sweet treats; cakes, cookies, a chocolate fountain and a revolving ice cream vortex displaying different flavours and sorbets of every kind. To the side, all sorts of syrups, sauces and candied titbits are there to be sprinkled atop in unadulterated proportions. Indeed, it’s the only way to end a meal of such measure.
