After operating as a Mediterranean restaurant for some years, Raffles Bali’s beachfront dining destination turns a new leaf as it reopens as Loloan Coastal Peruvian, bringing a taste of the South American shores to Jimbaran.
There are many similarities between the coasts of Peru and buzzy Jimbaran in Bali, Indonesia. For one, its proximity to the ocean means people turn to the bounty of the waters, using fishing as a commodity. Peruvian fishermen row out to the Pacific waters in caballitos de totora, handwoven reed boats, while their Balinese counterparts board the jukungs off Jimbaran Bay in search of the Indian Ocean’s fish. It also means in both places, seafood becomes a staple of local cuisine, albeit prepared with different techniques and paired with dissimilar flavour profiles. This becomes the spirit of Loloan Coastal Peruvian, the reimagined beachfront dining destination at Raffles Bali.
Taking its name from the Balinese word for estuary, the place is designed as a place of transition, balance, and exchange. The open-air restaurant, sitting next to a glittering pool and overlooking a private beach with tranquil waves, is an ideal backdrop to introduce coastal Peruvian cuisine, especially with seafood equally shaping both region’s food culture.

The menu is as characterful as it is approachable. Building blocks for the dishes include catches of the day by local fishermen, produce from nearby growers, and imported staple ingredients, all with integrity in mind. Fresh ceviches and tiraditos bring a zesty punch to each meal, while hearty meat-based creations and vegetarian options prepared over the grill become the centrepiece of the table over an exchange of hands.
At Loloan, lunchtime is a breezy, sunlit affair with flavours as bright as the skies and golden rays. The evenings bring its own kind of magic for dinner as the space lights up with the flames from the grill and candles. This is when the bar comes alive, setting the rhythm with its performance-driven sensibilities to deliver cocktails with a theatrical flair, featuring signatures that are equally rooted in Peruvian spirits.
