After months of anticipation, Dualism has finally debuted in Jakarta’s SCBD, marking the latest chapter from SwillFam Group, the team behind some of the city’s most inventive dining and nightlife concepts. With its philosophy built on the art of contrast, the bar arrives as both a cocktail destination and a cultural statement.
At its core, Dualism presents every creation in pairs. Each drink begins with the same set of ingredients, yet is expressed in two opposing ways. One may appear bold and spirit-forward, while its counterpart is light, delicate, or playful. The intention is not to take sides but to explore how each version reveals something the other cannot. Guests are encouraged to experience both, finding fresh layers of flavour and perception in every glass.
The idea reflects the partnership between its founders: one immersed in music, style, and sensory experience, the other a technician focusing on precision and ingredients. Together with head bartenders Ghalim Pati and Aldho Goenawan, their vision has been distilled into Chapter I: The Founders. The menu reads like an art book, with cocktails given narrative weight. Tragedy is rendered rich and soulful, while Comedy feels bright and spirited. Marie Antoinette blurs fact and fiction with cream, tea, and nuts, while Caravaggio balances light and shadow with exotic fruit and wood.
Indonesian elements also have their place. Ingredients such as bawang dayak and cuko root give the menu a local character, proving that global artistry can sit comfortably alongside tradition. Beyond this first chapter, the bar promises seasonal menus, guest shifts with regional mixologists, and collaborations that will expand its exploration of contrasts.
