Lucas Bols made a triumphant return to Indonesia with its Bols Cocktail Battle 2024.
In an event that set the bar high for mixology enthusiasts, Lucas Bols, the world’s first cocktail brand, made a spectacular return to Indonesia with its highly anticipated Bols Cocktail Battle in 2024. After several years of hiatus, the competition was back with a bang, embracing the vibrant theme of Bols Disco Fever.
This international competition, which seeks to inspire bartenders worldwide, was held simultaneously in 30 countries. Indonesia showcased remarkable enthusiasm, registering the highest number of participants—108 talented individuals who submitted their best disco cocktail recipes via www.diffordsguide.com. From this pool of creativity, the Lucas Bols global brand team meticulously selected the top 13 Indonesian bartenders.
The finalists, a mix of Jakarta’s and Bali’s finest, included Lanang Gema Sakti from Roma Osteria, Jakarta; Deden Wahidin from Club Macanudo, Jakarta; Yesaya Vanefraim from Zodiac Baresto, Jakarta; Ilham from Krapela, Jakarta; Moh. Iqbal Yudhistira from Osteria Gia, Jakarta; Ahmad Rinaldi from Lbrty, Jakarta; Wisnu Ramadhani from Lufre Bar & Lounge, Jakarta; I Kadek Sriadi Gunawan from Miss Fish, Bali; Andreas Setiadi from Midaz, Bali; Ni Nyoman Yuliana from Ku De Ta, Bali; I Wayan Agus Rama Dinata from TELU Bar at Four Seasons Resort Bali at Jimbaran Bay; Yudhistira Eko Nugroho from The Great Gatsby, Jakarta; and I Gusti Made Ngurah Mega Putra from Mozaic Gastronomic Bali.
The journey to the grand finale began on 1 April 2024. It culminated on 17 May 2024, with the final event held at the eclectic Motel Mexicola in Canggu on 11 June 2024. This dazzling event saw the finalists present their innovative cocktail creations to four esteemed judges: Rizky Adityo, Managing Editor at Exquisite Media; Faye Louise, Director at PT. Putra Surya Internusa; Rafal Jedrzejczak, Lucas Bols Regional Director, Emerging Cocktail Market; and Matheus Hutauruk, Lucas Bols Brand Manager in Indonesia under PT. Pelita Makmur Perkasa.
In a night filled with excitement and flair, Ni Nyoman Yuliana from Ku De Ta in Bali emerged victorious with her ABBA-inspired Dancing Queen cocktail. Her victory not only earned her the top spot but also the honour of representing Indonesia at the prestigious Cocktail Fever Festival in the Netherlands. This festival promises to be an extraordinary journey, offering winners from around the globe a three-day extravaganza of training, engaging seminars and invaluable networking opportunities.
Runners-up included Yudhistira Eko Nugroho from The Great Gatsby in Jakarta and I Kadek Sriadi Gunawan from Miss Fish Bali, who both impressed the judges with their exceptional mixology skills.
The Bols Disco Fever theme brought back the spirit of iconic disco cocktails like Blue Hawaii, Grasshopper, Harvey Wallbanger and the Espresso Martini. Competitors were challenged to craft new-era disco cocktails that were fun, exciting and perfect for dancing the night away. The event successfully revived the vibrant disco era, infusing it with modern mixology flair.
