Highland Dinner

In commemoration of The Macallan’s new Edition No.2, The Macallan held a dazzling evening of whisky dinner at The Dutch restaurant. The exclusive invitation-only whisky dinner welcomed 50 VIP guests for the exclusive evening.

The Macallan Edition No.2 is crafted from seven exquisite casks, and handpicked from four distinguished bodegas. The limited edition blend is the brainchild of The Macallan’s Master Whisky Maker Bob Dalgarno and three of the esteemed Roca brothers. The European oak Tevasa cask was picked by Bob Dalgarno for its notes of rich, dried fruits, which embody the Edition No.2. Joan Roca chose the American and European cask by Diego martin with beautiful notes of green wood and toffee. The European cask by Jose Miguel Martin was selected by Josep Rocca for its bewitching ginger and allspice notes. Finally, Jordi Roca ties up the Edition No.2 with the American oak cask by Vasyma which invokes notes of vanilla and citrus. The resultant whisky blend is bottled at ABV of 48.2%. Edition No.2 is a beautifully complex, yet smooth and elegant whisky.

A dish of smoked salmon, lobster dressed with marmalade and lemon was served for the dinner, paired with The Macallan Fine Oak 12 Years Old. Next, a sumptuous dish of duck breast and foei gras was paired beautifully with The Macallan Sherry Cask 12 Years Old. For a palate cleanser, a lovely granita of Macallan Sherry Cask 12 Years Old, fresh strawberries and yuzu juice was served. The main course was a steak of Wagyu beef, matched beautifully with the star of the evening, The Macallan Edition  No.2. To end the dinner on a sweet note, a decadent dessert of chocolate Nemesis and salted caramel ice cream was accompanied by The Macallan Double Cask 12 Years Old.
