The good people of Hong Kong take the festive season very seriously and even more so the celebrations and feasting that goes with it and, for a sumptuous fine-dining experience, few places attract more discerning guests than Hugo’s, the Hyatt Regency Hong Kong, Tsim Sha Tsui’s signature European restaurant.
With much on offer, the traditional highlight is the Christmas and New Year’s Eve dinners, although the Christmas Day and New Year’s Day semi-buffet brunch are just as impressive. The Christmas Eve set dinner, for example, features a six-course menu with dishes like Bretagne Blue Lobster and Abalone, and Venison Essence with chestnut, mascarpone cream, ravioli and sherry. Lemon and thyme crusted French Rascasse and Chocolate Poached Aubrac Beef Tenderloin with French Foie Gras Nuggets follow, before cleansing the palate with a Rose Wine Sorbet and ultimately finishing with Aged Epoisses Cheese, followed by Chocolate Armagnac Charlotte.
