Customer Segment Head of Bank Mega

Helming the Customer Segment division in Bank Mega, Lenylia Haq – more familiarly known as Lia – is undeniably a seasoned banker with impressive experiences adding to her repertoire. While the world is at a halt, for Lia, life must go on. She shares her stories about making the best of the situation and what she wants to do the most once it is over.

Q: How has the current situation changed your daily and work life?

Lenylia Haq: The way we live our lives has inevitably been changed. Now we can barely interact face-to-face with our colleagues because of the WFH (work from home) directive.

We can’t meet our friends in person either. We are forced to make use of technology because we can’t leave the house. Now our meetings are held by WhatsApp call, phone call, or WhatsApp group. However, if I miss my friends, I can still have Zoom meetings to catch up.

Q: What banking products would you recommend that your customers use during this situation?

L: At a time like this, I think it’s better to choose conservative banking products with a high liquidity, such as time deposits and bonds (short to medium term). Those who haven’t registered for a mobile banking service yet, should register and start using the facility, it helps a lot when we want to do banking transactions while staying at home. A lot of banking solutions can be obtained through mobile banking.

Q: What do you most miss, but can’t do now, due to
the situation?

L: Spending more time with my father and my siblings. My father lives in a different house from me and he’s still actively working, and I’m also still doing my job, so our quality time had always been limited. Now, due to this situation, we haven’t seen each other for more than two months.

Q: What is the first country you want to visit when the situation returns to normal and why?

L: I want to go to Italy. That beautiful, historical country has been facing quite the hardship lately due to Covid-19. The Italians are known for their communal and very social way of life, with daily gatherings or big feasts with families and loved ones, and I think this situation must have changed their way of living. I’m really interested to know how the situation has changed the characteristics of the country.

Q: What tips do you have for people out there to stay positive and healthy?

L: Don’t worry, this situation will be over soon. There will be many changes and we will definitely have new habits or routines after this. I believe that even with how hard the situation is, there is always a lesson to learn from the hardship. The important thing is we have to keep being productive, contribute as much as we can and have enough rest. We will get through this together, we will go back to the new normal.
