E: What are your responsibilities?
A: I oversee the F&B department within Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach. This includes all promotional activities, financial performances, new concept development, and finally, the wellbeing of our guests.
E: What makes a typical day?
A: First of all, a coffee with my chefs in the morning. A walk through the resort followed by morning meetings and catch ups with the rest of the departments heads before getting ready for evening operations.
E: Who has been the most influential figure in your career to date?
A: Monica Metzger, a key figure in the F&B scene in the Middle East. She was my executive assistant manager for the past five years . During those periods, she taught me to always be involved in every aspect of the department and keep the bigger picture in mind.
E: Team player or team leader?
A: Team leader. Leading from the front and by example.
E: Name one thing that is special about your restaurants.
A: There are many things that make our restaurants cool and trendy. We have eight F&B outlets under the roof, but at the end of the day, it is the people that I work with that help make the restaurants special.
E: What is the most important trait to have in your work?
A: Compassion. Being able to put yourself in someone else’s shoes.
E: What is the most memorable moment of your career?
A: Joining the amazing team here at Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach. I am looking forward to many more years to come, and also seeing the growth of other IHG properties in Bali, Indonesia and the rest of the world.
E: Dead or alive, who would you like to take out to dinner?
A: Anthony Bourdain. Because he is someone that still inspires me to this day, especially his curiosity and thirst for understanding different cultures. He delved into the heart and soul of places he visited, seeking out the stories of everyday people. He believed that food was a powerful bridge between people and a window into their lives.
