The legendary Scottish distillery The Macallan has made a name for itself thanks to its outstanding single malt whiskies. Founded in 1824 in Speyside, the brand’s retrospective natural raw materials, plus its traditional methods and craftsmanship, brought The Macallan to the front line of the world’s liquor scene, where it has remained for decades.
Artists by nature, the brand collaborates with brilliant photographers to combine the meticulous art of whisky making with the photographers’ artistic interpretations of the world of The Macallan. The result is a series of unique limited edition whiskies that come with stunning artworks reflecting the brand’s values, aptly named The Macallan Masters of Photography.
Previous iconic photographers collaborating in The Macallan project include Rankin, Albert Watson, Annie Leibovitz, Elliott Erwitt and Mario Testino. The latest addition to this exclusive group is Steven Klein, who managed to eternalise a moment in time through his lens and come up with a short film and ten individual images on a magnificent montage titled Time Captured.
Definitely a collectible not to be missed with only 1,000 bottles released across the world, The Macallan Masters of Photography: Steven Klein edition is enclosed in an astonishing black case comprising the limited edition whisky, a Steven Klein signed print and horse’s head bottle stopper, among other things. With notes of sweet berry and hints of light vanilla, oak, caramelised ginger and orange, this ambrosial nectar shows a subtle smokiness.
