In a place like Jakarta, where spontaneity breeds excitement and unpredictability shapes familiarity, nothing is simply ordinary. The same can be said about OSMO, one of the latest entries into the city’s growing cocktail scene. Here, even the well-known comforts come with a surprise, as its Bastardized Classics concept infuses one’s favourite tipples with a creative twist courtesy of Co-Founder and Head Bartender Agung “El Hombre” Satria.
The highball, for example, is boldly transformed into Daddy’s Iced Tea, a smoky and fizzy concoction of blended and peated whiskies lengthened with creamy oolong soda. The more adventurous should not miss out on Up. To. Me., a riff on the martini. It invites drinkers to build their own glass, choosing between a base of ylang ylang vodka or parmesan gin before spicing things up with options like passionfruit sherry and vermouth, smoked olive, and bright lemon twist. This is exactly the kind of drinking experience that OSMO champions, one that centres the guests themselves.
These two creations are part of its debut menu, No Big Deal, which is inspired by life’s overlooked details; things that seem mundane yet become satisfactions, or even necessities, amid all the noise. Recently ticked the final thing off your shopping list? OSMO’s Grocery List captures that feeling through a turmeric-and-honeysuckle-infused reposado tequila, which is given a floral lift with pandan, lime, and house-made Radicula bitters, evoking one’s tropical shopping cart. Can’t be bothered with the intros of your comfort Netflix show? Press the button on Skip Intro, a giddy medley of shiso-infused vodka, yuzu, green tea yoghurt, and pink grapefruit.

Still, those looking for something much simpler can still have their own surprise. OSMO introduces Indonesia’s first Solera Whisky, which blends three different styles in a method akin to winemaking. The bold, spice-forward liquid golds can be enjoyed from the bottle, as shots, or in a highball.
Guests can sit in one of the many individual tables for some privacy if they so wish, but it’s best not to resist when the flow of the atmosphere guides them to the bar seats. With a sturdy wooden fixture as the bar, it feels less like the separation between drinkers and bartenders and more like the dining table at a house, a small yet thoughtful detail that fosters the conversations that drive the convivial ambience and infuses character to the whole space.
