Titik Dua successfully hosted the highly anticipated second edition of its Sipping Stories programme in December 2024. This enchanting gathering featured esteemed French photographer and author Stephane Sensey, alongside celebrated Balinese activist and entrepreneur Ni Luh Djelantik. Their profound dialogue inspired by Stephane’s book, Bali – Island of the Gods.
Having debuted at the Ubud Writers & Readers Festival 2024, Sipping Stories beautifully blends the art of storytelling with a meticulously curated selection of wine and cheese pairing, offering a refined and engaging experience for Bali’s literary enthusiasts. The wine selection reflected themes from the evening’s discussion, while the cheeses incorporated locally sourced Indonesian ingredients, creating a distinctive culinary journey that perfectly aligned with the event’s essence. In this intimate setting, participants enjoyed a sensory exploration of literature, culture and gastronomy, fostering deep connections and unforgettable moments.
This edition focused on the intricate interplay between Bali’s traditional culture and the pressures of a rapidly modernising world. The conversation highlighted the delicate balance needed to honour Bali’s rich heritage while embracing progress.
As Bali continues to navigate the complexities of modernity, both speakers passionately emphasised the importance of preserving the island’s cultural soul—the rituals, traditions and stories that define the island’s identity and its people. They stressed the need to safeguard this heritage for future generations while also finding ways to coexist with the inevitabilities of globalisation.
Looking ahead, Titik Dua and RAMU Kitchen remain committed to fostering meaningful dialogues and genuine connections. Through thoughtfully designed spaces and inspired conversations, Titik Dua and RAMU Kitchen aim to continue enriching Bali’s cultural tapestry while promoting a sense of community and shared purpose through thought-provoking discussions.
