Canes & Tales At Waldorf Astoria Osaka

Canes & Tales At Waldorf Astoria Osaka

Jemina

Tucked within the newly opened Waldorf Astoria Osaka, Canes & Tales offers a distinguished escape into the glamour of the Jazz Age, where every cocktail tells a story and each pour echoes the poetry of a bygone era. This elegant 47-seat bar captures the clandestine allure of speakeasies, drawing inspiration from the golden age of F. Scott Fitzgerald and bringing it to life through cinematic tableside mixology, timeless charm and a touch of modern artistry.

Leading this evocative journey is Director of Mixology Dominic Dijkstra, along with Bar Manager Masahiko Ohama and Bar Supervisor Shimba Ishikawa. This trio, with their global experience, infuses the bar’s identity with confidence and creativity. Each menu is designed as a chapter, grounded in the tales of the Jazz Age and reinterpreted with a bold, contemporary twist. From the hedonistic highs of the Jelly Bean, made with Waqar Pisco, aged Calvados, white peach, and coconut, to the bittersweet indulgence of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, where guests can choose their whisky’s age, every drink is a reverie.

Canes & Tales doesn’t just serve cocktails; it hosts performances. Guests gather around the uniquely shaped bar, where the energy is palpable, the presentation theatrical, and the drinks unforgettable. The inaugural menu pays homage to Fitzgerald’s Tales of the Jazz Age, with each of the 11 short stories reimagined in liquid form. Playful, provocative and poised, the menu balances sophistication and decadence. Standout cocktails include Porcelain and Pink, a mix of vodka, coconut rum, lychee purée and elderflower bubble bath, and May Day, where gin meets matcha foam, strawberry and shiso in a celebration of fresh allure.
