This August, The Langham, Jakarta welcomed an exciting guest behind the bar. Giulia Cuccurullo, Head Bartender at the world-renowned Artesian Bar in The Langham, London, took over Artesian Bar Jakarta for two exclusive evenings on 8-9 August 2025.
Perched high above the city, Artesian Bar Jakarta had long been a favourite for its inventive cocktails, botanical accents and sweeping skyline views. For that special weekend, the spotlight was on Giulia’s latest creations from the acclaimed Ultimo menu, a collection celebrated for originality and thoughtful presentation. Each drink had a key ingredient at its core, treated with advanced preservation techniques to capture and reimagine its essence.
The experience offered more than flavour. Giulia’s menus have always been designed as narratives, exploring themes of time, preservation and resilience. From CEPS, a savoury spin on the Negroni, to KELP, a Martini layered with subtle umami depth, every creation aimed to surprise without losing balance. APPLE brought a playful champagne sparkle, while CURRANT reinterpreted the Paloma with vibrant precision. Together, they formed a line-up that felt daring and grounded in technique.
Giulia’s path to mixology had begun far from the bar. Born in Naples and trained in architecture, she eventually shifted her creative focus to cocktails, blending design sensibilities with flavour composition. Her accolades, including Global Winner of Patrón Perfectionist 2020 and Best Italian Bartender Abroad at the 2024 Bargiornale Awards, reflected a career built on curiosity and skill.
As the sister venue to Artesian London, the Jakarta outpost provided the perfect setting for this cross-continental collaboration. Over two nights, guests had the rare chance to taste the spirit of one of the world’s most awarded bars, shaped by the vision of a bartender who saw each cocktail as a story waiting to be shared.
