A one-night-only collaboration at Gokan Hong Kong brought Jakarta’s bold cocktail culture to Ice House Street, blending inventive drinks with Indonesia-inspired flavours and cross-city flair.
Hong Kong’s cocktail set was treated to an unforgettable evening as Gokan Hong Kong unveiled The Jakarta Express, a spirited collaboration spotlighting two of Jakarta’s standout mixology talents: Kiki Moka of The Cocktail Club and Ronny Holicka of The Modernhaus. For one night only, Ice House Street transformed into a vibrant stage for creativity, flavour, and cross-cultural exchange.
From the moment guests arrived, the atmosphere crackled with anticipation. The bar buzzed with energy as Kiki and Ronny took their places behind the counter, bringing with them not just technical skill but the unmistakable pulse of Jakarta’s fast-rising cocktail scene. Adding another layer to the experience was the food programme, led by Felix Cheung, with Sonny making a homecoming return to join forces in serving up a selection of much-loved Indonesia-inspired eats, complementing the cocktails flowing through the night.
Kiki’s signature cocktails quickly emerged as crowd favourites. His Beet & Elderflower delivered an earthy yet elegant balance, while Cha Guavara charmed with its bright, tropical freshness. Aguamiel Verde, layered with herbaceous notes, completed the trio, underscoring his talent for creating drinks that are playful yet polished.
Ronny matched the momentum with his bold, inventive approach to flavour. His Tomato and Kenanga cocktail offered a refreshing floral complexity, while the Amaretto Sour 2.0, a contemporary reimagining of a classic, proved an instant hit, marrying nostalgia with modern finesse.
The Jakarta Express was a celebration of Jakarta’s evolving mixology identity, brought vividly into the heart of Hong Kong. With every pour and toast, the collaboration showcased the talent, passion, and creative confidence propelling Indonesia’s beverage scene onto the global stage.
