Crafted with volcanic water as a tribute to its roots, Cenote Tequila’s pursuit of heritage with innovation and sustainability yields refined purity.
Since 1472, Cenote Tequila has been crafted at the renowned Fábrica de Tequilas Finos Distillery in the iconic town of Tequila, Mexico. Boasting a prime location next to the legendary Jalisco volcano, the distillery’s surroundings directly mirror the depth and character found in every bottle. Operating under a proprietary NOM code and supported by Amber Beverage Group, part of the Stoli Group portfolio, Cenote exercises absolute control over its production to guarantee world-class consistency.
The name draws from the Mayan word cenote, meaning sacred well, inspired by the natural sinkholes of Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula. Formed within subterranean cave systems, these freshwater pools were revered not only as sources of survival but also as spiritual gateways that connect the surface to the underworld. This symbolism of purity and depth lies at the heart of Cenote Tequila, as an expression of beauty and the idea of venturing beyond the surface to embrace a life rich with meaning and experience.
At the helm of their distillation process stands the esteemed expertise of Maestro Tequilero (or Master Distiller) Miguel Cedeño Cruz. A true luminary in the world of tequila with a legacy spanning generations, Cruz’s mastery is reflected in every expression of Cenote Tequila, earning him recognition industry-wide. At the core of this pursuit is a dedicated team of agave specialists led by Cedeño Cruz himself, whose expertise ensures that every bottle is defined by excellence and sustainability.

Above all else, Cenote Tequila is fervently committed to maintaining purity. Some say obsessive even, for their tequilas go through a meticulous blend of time-honoured practices and cutting-edge methods, which includes an artesian well at the base of the Jalisco Volcano. Building on this dedication to purity, Cenote Tequila is crafted in three main expressions: Blanco, Reposado, and Añejo.
They are made through a process of the aforementioned volcanic artesian well water that has been carefully purified before fermentation, double distillation, and ageing in American oak bourbon barrels. Blanco offers bright citrus and pepper notes, Reposado matures for three months with smooth vanilla and spice, while Añejo ages a full year for deep amber colour and smoky complexity.
As one of the world’s few ARA-certified distilleries, Cenote delivers a deforestation-free spirit rooted in the Jalisco landscape. With bottles wrapped in artwork that honours the sacred cenotes and the rain deity Chaac, Cenote Tequila boasts a definitive expression of heritage and purity, and is featured prominently across Indonesia’s bars and premium spirit retailers.
