Hard Rock Hotel Bali unveiled the first Jamie’s Italian in Indonesia on Monday, 1st June.
Inspired by the Italian way of life, renowned UK chef and food activist Jamie Oliver worked with his Italian mentor, Gennaro Contaldo, to create a home-style, rustic menu with those cheeky Jamie Oliver twists.
The restaurant is at street level on the bustling Jalan Pantai Kuta, accessible both from the street and from Hard Rock Hotel Bali. With a covered outdoor terrace with funky lighting and wooden ceiling fans, diners can people watch over an ice-cold beer, a Jamie-style classic cocktail, Italian wines and digestif. Indoors, guests can sit downstairs by the bar or upstairs near the two open kitchens. The walls are full of shelves of Jamie’s books, cans of tomatoes, anchovies, mushroom sauce and olive oil. Garlic and Italian cold meats hang by the cold kitchen.
With food ideal for sharing and everything made from scratch – even the pasta and the pizza dough – guests can order up a feast and just get stuck in. Choices range from various antipasti to pizzas, pastas, fish, 30-day aged steak and gorgeous lamb. Whether you are looking for that post-surf meal, an opportunity to catch up with friends, a holiday feast with the family or a place to feed your hungry kids, Jamie’s Italian is a good choice.
The kids have their own special menu, presented with crayons and stickers, and they can happily colour it in while waiting for their food.
The desserts are excellent and generous. Italian classics include creamy panna cotta and a luscious tiramisu, while the lemon meringue cheesecake, almond cake and pavlova are all worth considering.
A large range of Italian wines and spirits is available, as well as homemade lemonade and a special blend of local coffee made specifically for the restaurant by Kopi Bali.
