MO BAR Edition No.I Gin Brings Singaporean Craft to Mandarin Oriental

Mandarin Oriental, Singapore introduces MO BAR Edition No.I Gin, a small-batch Old Tom spirit created to capture the flavours and the identity of the Lion City.

What makes a souvenir worth keeping? For some, it is a postcard or a handcrafted ornament. Others prefer something more memorable, a keepsake that recalls not only a destination but also the flavours and stories discovered there. With its first house spirit, MO BAR at Mandarin Oriental, Singapore has created exactly that, distilling the character of the city into a bottle.

Introduced on 28 July 2026, MO BAR Edition No.I Gin marks a new chapter for the hotel’s beverage programme. Rather than selecting an established label, the bar spent a year developing a bespoke gin that reflects Singapore’s history, tropical landscape, and evolving cocktail culture.

Bar Manager Kim Jung Hoo led the project in collaboration with Distillius, a Singapore-based craft distillery specialising in small-batch spirits. Together, they chose the historic Old Tom style, a classic English gin known for its softer, slightly sweeter profile than the more familiar London Dry. The approachable style not only broadens its appeal but also pays quiet tribute to the heritage associated with the Mandarin Oriental brand.

The botanical selection draws inspiration from Singapore’s equatorial surroundings. Dried mango, coriander seed, mandarin, and fragrant osmanthus are layered over a wheat spirit, while a small addition of Sauvignon Blanc introduces gentle acidity that brightens the fruit-forward character. The result is a balanced gin with a delicate juniper backbone, equally suited to a classic Gin & Tonic or a more intricate signature cocktail.

That same attention to detail is reflected in the presentation. Every 500ml bottle is housed in a bespoke ceramic vessel inspired by the graceful form of a traditional Chinese plum vase. Its artwork references the Keng Wai Lee mural displayed in the hotel’s lobby, combining tropical botanicals with the Vanda Miss Joaquim orchid, Singapore’s national flower. Designed as a collectible object, the vessel is intended to remain long after the final pour.

To celebrate the launch, MO BAR is presenting The First Edition Experience throughout August. The tasting begins with a neat pour before showcasing the gin in a refreshing Gin & Tonic and a choice of two signature cocktails. Guests can select the M.O. Mango, a tropical interpretation of the Gimlet, or the M.O. MAMI, a bittersweet Martini accented with Amaro Nino. The gin is also available to purchase from MO BAR and the Mandarin Oriental Cake Shop, with an additional tableside service offered for those wishing to enjoy it within the hotel.
