Established in 1992 by trailblazers Bill and Lyn Lark, LARK Distilling Co. has revolutionised the whisky industry in Australia and abroad. From its humble beginnings on a kitchen table, LARK has grown to become Australia’s number one luxury single malt whisky brand. This iconic distillery, rooted in Tasmania’s heritage as the first licenced distillery in 154 years, continues to embody a spirit of curiosity and courage that defines its brand and products.
LARK’s journey from a small-scale operation to an internationally acclaimed distillery is nothing short of remarkable. The distillery’s signature collection boasts exceptional whiskies like the Classic Cask at 43% ABV, the Chinotto Citrus Cask at 44% ABV and the Tasmanian Peated at 46% ABV. These expressions demonstrate LARK’s dedication to quality and innovation, as does the highly sought-after Rare & Remarkable Collection. LARK’s expertise doesn’t stop at whisky. The distillery also produces a unique range of Forty Spotted Gins, infused with native Tasmanian pepper berry, citrus and juniper, offering a refreshing and distinctive take on gin from the bottom of the world.
Over the past three decades, LARK has consistently received prestigious accolades, both locally and internationally, for its exceptional quality and innovative spirit. At the World Whiskies Awards in London in March 2024, LARK was crowned Australia’s Best Single Malt for its Fresh IPA Cask and Australia’s Best Blended Malt with Symphony No. 1 for the third consecutive year. These honours underscore LARK’s position at the forefront of the whisky industry. Additionally, at the Australian Whisky Awards in March 2023, LARK was named Distillery of the Year, while DARK LARK earned the title of Single Malt of the Year. Individual accolades also highlighted the distillery’s excellence, with Bill Lark being honoured as Personality of the Year and Master Distiller Chris Thomson receiving the Distiller of the Year award. Further cementing its legacy, LARK received the acclaimed Master Medal at the 2023 World Whisky Masters for its Chinotto II Cask Strength Single Malt, alongside seven gold medals across its portfolio.
LARK’s success is deeply rooted in its Tasmanian heritage. Utilising the island’s unspoiled landscape, pure water sources and premium barley, the distillery produces whiskies that are exceptional and unparalleled in the world. This commitment to local ingredients and traditional methods, combined with innovative techniques, results in spirits that are celebrated for their complexity, depth and distinctive Tasmanian character.
Bill and Lyn Lark’s pioneering spirit and dedication have paved the way for a new era of Australian whisky. Their passion for the craft and relentless pursuit of excellence have not only earned LARK a distinguished reputation but also inspired a new generation of distillers. LARK Whisky is now available to enjoy or buy in Indonesia through leading and premium bars in Jakarta, at Red & White stores across the country or online at minuman.com.
