OASIS IN THE CITY
A rooftop bar with everything you could desire, this happening spot is the place to be day or night.
The elevator doors open to the rooftop at Fullerton Bay Hotel to reveal Lantern, named by CNNGo.com as one of the world’s best hotel bars. Singapore’s trade winds blow softly across the vast infinity pool carrying the soothing down-tempo beats mixed by the evening’s DJ. The sun is just setting and guests pause from sipping their vivacious cocktails to take pictures with their smartphones of the historic waterfront slowly becoming aglow with the city lights of commerce.
Vintage and Modern Cocktails
As the sky darkens and the DJ begins to turn up the music to a comfortable volume, it’s time to order one of Lantern’s unique and sexy cocktails. Drinks are vintage meets modern inspirations and all are made-to-order using freshly squeezed juices and herbs. Try the Merlion, a slightly spicy concoction of tequila, young ginger, honey, lime and soda. Or the spicier still, Hot Mariachi with tequila, fresh lime, cane syrup and bird’s eye chili. Don’t fancy tequila? No problem. The bar also has a long list of innovative takes on the widely popular mojito, like the Imperial Berry Mojito with rum, berries, mint and champagne to add that extra pep.
Floating Oasis
Like a floating oasis in the city, Lantern is comfortably raised so one has a bird’s eye view but still feels connected to the energy of this buzzing Southeast Asian metropolis. It’s a locale that offers all of Singapore has to offer without having to move from your seat. Towering skyscrapers to your back, the 1930’s historic pier and across the bay, the omnipresent Marina Bay Sands is a reminder that the future has arrived. Offering more than just cocktails, Lantern’s menu features a wide variety of snacks to munch on while watching taking in the scenery or watching The Sands nightly laser-light show projected from across the bay. For a sensible portion that really hits the spot, try the mini wagyu beef burgers paired with truffle fries. If you’re hungry for dinner, Lantern also offers full plates and warm, oven-baked flat breads from its on-site kitchen. There’s really no reason to ever leave.
Haute Nights
Dubbed Bubbles and Heels, Lantern beckons ladies on Wednesday nights to come enjoy an evening of chic drinks and groovy beats. Take the edge off your work week and enjoy the glittering skyline, dressed to impress for this haute weekly social. Partnering with different luxury brands each month, the bar offers early arriving ladies a free gift. Recent brands include Vera Wang fragrances and Mac cosmetics.
Daytime Recreation
If nightlife isn’t your thing, the rooftop pool opens at
8 a.m. daily for early rising guests. Enjoy a swim and then order breakfast poolside while basking in the Southeast Asian sun, gazing up at the skyscrapers above reveling in the fact that you’re not at work. But for those of us who work during the day, there’s still a chance to feel like you’re on holiday. Every last Sunday of the month Lantern hosts its St. Tropez Brunch, a BBQ brunch and pool party to the spins of a resident DJ. Forget the worries of the work week and party in style because entrance to this brunch includes a bottle of Perrier-Jouet Grand Brut per couple.
