The multinational beverage producer and distributor presented not only a competition, but a showcase of bartending excellence.
Diageo, a global leader in the alcoholic beverages industry, hosted the Diageo World Class Indonesia Final, an annual event that gathers the finest bartenders from across Indonesia to showcase their skills. In a final presentation attended by hospitality industry figures, the judges selected the best bartender to represent Indonesia at the Diageo World Class global competition in Shanghai, China, in September 2024.
The Diageo World Class Indonesia Final is part of the annual Diageo World Class event, which has been inspiring over 400,000 bartenders worldwide for the past 13 years to explore creativity and innovation in crafting cocktails. Since May 2024, Diageo has conducted the competition series in Indonesia, inviting eight top bartenders from Jakarta, Malang, Surabaya, and Bali to compete in the semifinals and finals at Bimasena the Dharmawangsa Jakarta.
During the event, bartenders created innovative cocktails using premium brands Don Julio and The Singleton, blending science and art in their presentations. Judges, including past Diageo World Class winners and industry experts, assessed the cocktails based on taste, creativity, and presentation.
The highlight of the event was the announcement of I Putu Aris Sanjaya Putra from Sycro Base Bali as the winner of Diageo World Class Indonesia 2024. He will represent Indonesia in the global finals in Shanghai, competing against the best bartenders from 60 countries. Aris expressed his excitement and pride in bringing exceptional Indonesian cocktail creations to an international stage.
