Food & Beverage Manager at Padma Resort Legian Bali
E : Describe your typical day in a sentence.
Charda: My days usually go by very fast actually – management meetings, supervision of the eight on-site outlets at the Padma Resort Legian and, of course, I meet and greet our guests and check with them about our standards of F&B and service.
E : So how did you come to be the F&B Manager at Padma Resort Legian?
Charda: It was by a stroke of luck. My colleague called me and referred me to Padma Resort Legian. The experience match was perfect and so I was offered the position, which I happily accepted. I am truly grateful to have received the call and enjoy being part of this wonderful team.
E : What is the most rewarding aspect of your jobt?
Charda: The most rewarding part is to see our results due to the performance and commitment of our team. To me, that means we are all heading in the right direction and in line with the company’s vision and mission.
E : At work, what makes you smile?
Charda: Hearing people complimenting the great service and, of course, how nice their dining experience has been at our food and beverage outlets, also when I see returning guests, many of whom come and visit us time and time again.
E : And what motivates you?
Charda: My family.
E : Would things fall apart if you weren’t around?
Charda: No definitely not. Our team is professional and capable and so no, things do not fall apart when I am not at the resort.
E : Who, in your team, deserves more recognition and why?
Charda: Like a football team, every single member deservesongoing recognition because every single one of them contributes a great deal of effort and commitment to ensure the department runs smoothly. Great teamwork always brings great results.
E : Why should people choose Padma Resort Legian to dine?
Charda: Quality and choice! We offer guests a great variety of dining options, including our family restaurant with buffets and à la carte and a beachfront venue for romantic couples, lazy lunches or sunset drinks. Our Tenkai Japanese Restaurant, which is just being renovated, is excellent and offers an authentic Japanese experience.
E : Away from work, what’s your favourite place to eat?
Charda: I always like to eat at Café Degan and noodle shop at Galleria mall.
E : How do you unwind?
Charda: I spend time with my family visiting the mountains and villages. I think the natural scenery helps bring me inner peace and is an escape from all the hustle and bustle and allows me to express my gratitude for everything that I have.
E : Finally, any advice for those looking to break into the industry?
Charda: Be honest and well organised and always be ready to hold your emotions in check because there’s always something in this business that does not go your way.
